Should we explore space?

A lot of people wonder whether exploring space is really worth the risk and expense. The answer is a very simple yes; Space is definitely worth our time and money. There are many reasons to keep exploring space ranging from history, necessities, opportunities, and much more.

The first major reason to keep sending our boys out of the atmosphere is that exploration equals power and success. When the new world was discovered back in the 17th century who became the most powerful country?  Great Britain. The country who controlled that new world. If the United States were to keep funding exploration then sooner then we might expect habitable worlds will be discovered and reached. And If the United States is considered the one who found and colonized those new worlds our power would enormously increase. We would now have power over something that everyone wants a piece and pay top dollar to be apart of. All we had to do is get there first and in force.

A second major drive to keep exploring space is that we need the space to expand. Here on earth we are running out of room very quickly. We have a net growth in population of over 1 million people a week that’s more than two wyoming's. Meaning that if everyone died in wyoming today they could all be replaced by wednesday. We do not have room on for that many people especially with rising life expectancies and decreasing death rates. The farther we go into space the more options we have as to where our excess of people can go to prosper. RIght now we are already debating living on the Moon and Mars and we haven’t even landed on Mars yet! Imagine how easily it would be to get a large group of people to utilize the cosmos.

Almost hand in hand with moving people to space is the fact that is we keep exploring space we create thousands of opportunities for not only scientists and engineers but all people looking for a fresh start and a new place to make it big. Once a planet was deemed habitable a huge market for commercial space flight would arise and create jobs for thousands this market would also grow and grow as long as people are still being born and space is still being explored. It would be a very easily sustained innovative market.

Furthermore without the exploration we can not move forward as a country and economy nearly as fast as with it. Space exploration has led to the invention of things that we use every single day and would be without if not for NASA and the space race. Things like the vacuum, LED lights, and satellite television would be none existent or in their early stages of development without the space program

The knowledge that the desire to explore space and exploration of space has provide mankind with is almost unmatched in any field. If not for the desire to go into the stars we would still think that the earth is the center of the universe and we might still think that the earth is the only habitable planet but instead we are able to know there are other planetoids out there like HB 85512 B which shows traces of Oxygen and Water and is in the Habitable Zone. It’s things like this that show the true promise of space exploration.

Obama Time

Are out the undecided voter in this coming election? Are you watching the debates, reading the presses releases, paying attention to the new and are just unable to decide who you should vote for this coming tuesday? Well I’m here to help you decide which candidate is better for this country by explaining why I believe what I believe.

Out of the two main candidates (Obama and Romney) that are most definitely biting their nails and waiting in anticipation for tomorrow to come; Obama is clearly the far better choice for the betterment of our American society. Obama has the right ideas in his head to make the country a better place and has also been following those ideas for the past four year. He knows what is good for our society. In the past four Obama has made a strong backing for himself when in comes to important moral, social, economical and foreign issues.

Now to get into the meat of it I’m not a democrat, republican, libertarian, green party member or member of any third party for that matter, but I would vote for Obama this year based on two main things what he’s done in the past four years, and how little overall faith and trust I have in Mitt Romney.

Primarily I’d like to talk about Obama’s last four years. Even if he hasn’t been the most successful (By not being the most successful I mean there is little room to move when you have a republican legislature and are a democratic president.) He (Obama) has always kept the right ideas in his head. Which would be fixing the mess President Bush created when he was office, lowering the number of unemployed, ending wars, removing troops from the middle east, and taking out hostile oppositions (Osama Bin Laden).

The second reason that I would vote for Obama over Mitt Romney is Mitt himself. He has forever been changing his views. If you tracked Romney's opinion in a liner fashion It’s would be more up and down then a pop singers popularity. He has changed his opinions so many times that you would feel like you're meeting a new candidate every time you hear him speak. Not only is Romney is questionable when is comes from his views but he also is part of the most discriminated against group of 2012. The 1%. For this reason I believe that he would get very little done when it came to pleasing the people which is very important for a president.

For these reasons two reasons both supporting Obama in this campaign  I would choose Obama over Romney this tuesday in the coming election. But of course it's up to you if you want a changing nation or a changing opinion.

Revolution in The Valley (a book review)

This will be a two part review of the book Revolution in the Valley. The first part will be a more over view of the book and also a more personal review relating to my life The second part of this review will be a more logical analysis of the book through a six part break down.

Part One.

The most recent book that I have read is called Revolution in the Valley: The Insanely Great Story of How the Mac Was Made , it is written by Andy Hertzfeld who was a major contributor to the creation of the first Macintosh Computer as well as other Apple Products. The story is written from his eyes as he spends his years writing code and developing this amazing new technology. There are also some inserts from other members of the Apple Company to give a better view of what was happening.

This book very closely relates to my interests in life because I have always loved computers and will continue to love computers or whatever technology replaces them for the rest of my life. I truly loved being albe to read through one of the greatest creations in recent history.  I know that for most people this would be a terrible book to read it goes through pages and pages of coding talk and is always referencing things that are just dry and boring but I personally have a bais to these things I can read page after page talking about UI's ROM, C++ or whatever else realting to computers with no problem at all.

I know that this book relates to my life in many ways. Not only do I spend hours on a Apple computer everyday but I also have spent hours of my life messing with every other type of computer. Plus I know that in years to come I will spend even more time on computers so I feel it's only right to undertand how it all got started especially if 30 years from now or even 100 these men could be considered the legends of the millennium.

Part Two

Speaker
The speaker throughout 99% of the book is Andy Hertzfeld who was one of the main designers and coders for the Macintosh. he worked on the Apple 2 team Primarily but was soon transferred to the more prestigious Mac team. The other 1% of the book is written by andy's co-workers. Here and there a additional author would add in a few details essentially.

Occasion
The occasion for this book is the 1980's mainly and is located in Silicon Valley. Silicon valley at the time was a MAJOR hub for technological advancements and was the home to the world known Apple company. Throughout this book the Mac team that Andy is working for travel from building to building as they expand and grow as a company.

Audience
The audience for this book is in my opinion hard to pin down because in my mind it is meant for a few difference audiences. The primary group of readers will be people entering the tech business and wanting to know how one of the greats started. The second main group I think is teens who are interesting in where their shinny new computer came from.

Purpose
The main purpose of this book is to document the growth and evolution of the Macintosh computer thorough it's early years thought the eyes of one of the men who created it. It gives an average person a great view into how Steve Jobs reacted to situation he liked and didn't like and showed how truly committed people were to the project on average working 90+ hour weeks.

Style
The style of the book is very jumping there is a lot of skipping around from year to year and from history to how the computer was developed. It's rather difficult to follow until you are about halfway through the book where you gain a more complete picture of everything that is going on.

Tone
Throughout most of the book the tone of the author is very positive, he is very proud of all the accomplishments that occur. There are some times where the author is depressed or saddened and he take you through those emotions very well so the over all tone of the book is well written.

I give this book 4.5 outta 5 Apple 2's

My favorite book to date.

There are quite a few books that I have read throughout the years but there are very few that I will never forget and even less that I will consider reading twice. There are few books that related directly to my personal point of view, which is what I enjoy to read. The main book that comes to mind when I look back at my book shelf is the first book in the rangers apprentice series. The book is called The Ruins of Gorlan and is written by John Flanagan.
For those that don't know the book is about a young boy named Will who is orphaned as a very young child and grows up in a foster house so to speak. When the boy comes of age he needs to pick a profession or have one picked for him. In the end he is picked up by the Ranger of the fief and thus begins the rest of his life. In the first book the writer goes over everything to do with being a ranger before entering into more of a story that revolved around a conflict that needed to be solved. I really enjoyed this about the book because not only was the writer able to keep me interesting while describing the back story and getting through all those yucky details of how everything worked he was also very easily able to transition into a great story about the boy overcoming a conflict and becoming more of a man.
One of the min reason that I enjoyed this book is because it hits straight to the heart for me. It's exactly what I want in life. (To become an apprentice at craft and then become successful) I also helps that the main character of the book is a boy about my age and a boy who is always outdoors because for one I'm always outdoors and am a boy, duh, so it's easy for me to relate to the book him through his experiences. Another part of the book that made me enjoy it even more was the line that it walked between possible yet improbable. I know I have a bias towards things that should be imposslbe but are done anyway out of pure intuition and creativity.
Right before reading Ruins of Gorlan I was reading the H.I.V.E. novels which were also centered around a orphaned boy who overcame adversity through pure creative genius so going into this book I already had a disposition to like book that are about guys my age. At the same time that I read this book I was also big into Boyscouts so when I read all these amazing things about what a kid my age could do I couldn't help but keep reading the book.
All in all the book Ruins of Gorlan is a very good book, without all the connections that it made to my life and what i enjoy I might not be saying the same thing right now but because I read that book right when I did I still remember it today as an amazing book.
