Should we explore space?

A lot of people wonder whether exploring space is really worth the risk and expense. The answer is a very simple yes; Space is definitely worth our time and money. There are many reasons to keep exploring space ranging from history, necessities, opportunities, and much more.

The first major reason to keep sending our boys out of the atmosphere is that exploration equals power and success. When the new world was discovered back in the 17th century who became the most powerful country?  Great Britain. The country who controlled that new world. If the United States were to keep funding exploration then sooner then we might expect habitable worlds will be discovered and reached. And If the United States is considered the one who found and colonized those new worlds our power would enormously increase. We would now have power over something that everyone wants a piece and pay top dollar to be apart of. All we had to do is get there first and in force.

A second major drive to keep exploring space is that we need the space to expand. Here on earth we are running out of room very quickly. We have a net growth in population of over 1 million people a week that’s more than two wyoming's. Meaning that if everyone died in wyoming today they could all be replaced by wednesday. We do not have room on for that many people especially with rising life expectancies and decreasing death rates. The farther we go into space the more options we have as to where our excess of people can go to prosper. RIght now we are already debating living on the Moon and Mars and we haven’t even landed on Mars yet! Imagine how easily it would be to get a large group of people to utilize the cosmos.

Almost hand in hand with moving people to space is the fact that is we keep exploring space we create thousands of opportunities for not only scientists and engineers but all people looking for a fresh start and a new place to make it big. Once a planet was deemed habitable a huge market for commercial space flight would arise and create jobs for thousands this market would also grow and grow as long as people are still being born and space is still being explored. It would be a very easily sustained innovative market.

Furthermore without the exploration we can not move forward as a country and economy nearly as fast as with it. Space exploration has led to the invention of things that we use every single day and would be without if not for NASA and the space race. Things like the vacuum, LED lights, and satellite television would be none existent or in their early stages of development without the space program  

The knowledge that the desire to explore space and exploration of space has provide mankind with is almost unmatched in any field. If not for the desire to go into the stars we would still think that the earth is the center of the universe and we might still think that the earth is the only habitable planet but instead we are able to know there are other planetoids out there like HB 85512 B which shows traces of Oxygen and Water and is in the Habitable Zone. It’s things like this that show the true promise of space exploration.
